Where it starts

Keep the Website Aligned With Your Business

A website can remain online while important details fall behind. A service description may be out of date, a campaign link may point to an old offer, or an enquiry may stop reaching the right person.

Ongoing support gives those tasks an owner and a process. We agree what needs attention regularly, how your team submits requests and which changes need a larger project.

The starting point may be a specific issue or a review of the whole setup. Either way, the scope should make clear what we maintain and what remains with your hosting provider or other suppliers.

  • Keep it running

Agreed updates, fixes and checks on the forms and pages that matter most.

  • Keep it current

Services, team details, prices, images and page copy that keep pace with the business.

  • Keep it improving

Planned improvements, prioritised with you and scoped separately when they grow beyond routine work.

Scope

Website Maintenance Work We Can Include

  • Platform and component updates

For supported sites, we can plan updates to the platform and agreed components after reviewing access, customisations and dependencies. A WordPress site, for example, may rely on its theme, plugins and hosting configuration as well as WordPress itself.

We agree the backup and recovery arrangements before changes, and use a test environment where available and appropriate. Checks after the update focus on the functions the change could affect.

  • Content and service-page changes

Keep existing pages accurate as offers, contact details and business information change. The plan can include supplied text edits, image replacements, link updates and agreed page adjustments.

If a page needs substantial research or a full rewrite, website copywriting can be scoped alongside the update.

  • Fault investigation and fixes

We investigate reported problems within the agreed website scope. Useful inputs include the affected URL, what you expected to happen, what actually happened and when the issue first appeared.

The initial review helps distinguish a content or website problem from one involving hosting, email delivery or a third-party service. When another provider is involved, we explain the dependency and the next step.

  • Forms and important customer journeys

We can check selected journeys such as enquiry forms, booking requests, account access or checkout. The exact checks depend on the website and the systems connected to it.

A successful on-screen message is only one part of a form test. Where the scope and access allow it, we also check the intended destination for the submission. Test accounts, orders and messages are identified so they can be handled appropriately.

  • Planned design and functionality improvements

Small usability or layout changes can be included in a support allowance. Larger work, such as a new booking system, store redesign or customer portal, needs its own brief and estimate.

We can maintain a list of proposed improvements so you can decide which ones matter next.

  • Agreed tools and integrations

Your website may rely on forms, analytics, email tools, payment services or other connections. We identify which ones are included in support and what access is required to investigate them.

Custom application support can also be discussed through software development, with responsibility for the application and its infrastructure defined separately.

Existing sites

Start With a Review of the Existing Site

We can assess a website built by another team. Before accepting ongoing responsibility, we need to understand the platform, access, current condition and any known issues.

The review looks at the information relevant to the proposed support: who controls the hosting and domain, how changes are made, which paid components are in use, and whether there is a usable backup and deployment process.

An inherited site may need initial repair or documentation before routine maintenance makes sense. We explain that work and its priority so you can make an informed decision.

Agreement

Agree the Support Boundaries Up Front

AreaWhat we define
Website coverageNamed sites, environments and supported components
Routine workIncluded update tasks, content changes and allowances
Backups and recoveryWho handles them, what they cover and any agreed restoration checks
RequestsSubmission channel, required details and approval contact
AvailabilitySupport hours, time zone and any contracted response targets
IncidentsHow urgent issues are assessed and who can approve recovery work
Third-party costsHosting, domains, licences and supplier fees
Larger changesHow additional work is estimated and approved

Regular support, continuous monitoring and round-the-clock incident response are different commitments. We state the actual coverage in the agreement. A response target describes when a request will be addressed; resolution may depend on the cause and other providers.

Process

How Ongoing Support Works

  1. Review and onboard

We confirm the website, access, dependencies and priorities. Existing problems are recorded, with any initial repair separated from routine support.

  2. Plan the work

Routine tasks and incoming requests are prioritised against the agreed scope. You know which changes need information or approval from your team.

  3. Make and check changes

We use the agreed change process, check the affected functions and record the work completed. Recovery options are considered before changes that could affect live operation.

  4. Report and plan ahead

At the agreed intervals, we summarise completed work, unresolved dependencies and proposed improvements. New requirements can be estimated before they enter the delivery schedule.

Platforms

Support for Different Website Setups

For a WordPress site, support may involve plugin compatibility, editor issues and ongoing content changes. A custom website may need code changes and deployment work. An online store also requires attention to the buying journey and connected services.

We assess each setup before recommending coverage. Explore WordPress development, ecommerce development or website design and development when the need is a substantial rebuild or new feature.

Frequently asked questions

Website Maintenance Questions

Can you maintain a website you did not build?

Potentially, yes. We review the site, access and current condition first. Some sites need an initial repair, supported replacement components or better documentation before we can agree ongoing coverage.

Are backups included?

Only when specified in the plan. We identify who runs the backups, what is included, how long copies are retained and what restoration work is covered. Hosting backups should not be assumed to cover every connected service.

Do you provide 24/7 support?

Standard coverage is defined in the agreement. We do not describe support as 24/7 unless it is specifically staffed and contracted. Tell us if your business needs after-hours response so that requirement can be assessed before work begins.

Can you guarantee the site will never go down or be compromised?

No. Maintenance can address known issues and improve preparedness, but availability and security depend on multiple systems and providers. The plan should define the checks and recovery responsibilities your business needs.

Can I request new pages through maintenance?

It depends on the allowance and the work involved. A small page using an existing layout may fit the plan; new copy, design or functionality may need a separate estimate. We confirm that before starting the request.

Are hosting, domain renewals and plugin licences covered?

Those costs and responsibilities are listed separately. We need to know who owns each account and who handles renewals. Maintenance does not automatically include every third-party subscription.

How much does website maintenance cost?

The price depends on the platform, site condition, included work, integrations and support coverage. Share your site and typical requests so we can propose a suitable scope.

What if the website has an urgent problem now?

Send the URL and describe the impact. We assess availability, access and the issue before confirming whether we can take it on. An urgent repair may need a separate scope from a future maintenance plan.

Do we need maintenance if the site rarely changes?

Even a site whose content rarely changes still runs on software that needs updating, and forms and integrations can stop working without anyone noticing. A lighter scope can cover those basics.
